Is anyone else in shock that we are already at the end of 2019? This year has flown by and we have been really fortunate to have been on some incredible holidays in the past 12 months. Amazingly, we have been on 22 trips away from home, visiting 7 countries and taking in 9 shows along the way. We also got engaged, launched Clock Out Check In and both started new jobs. New Year is a great time to reflect and be grateful for the past year so as we come to the end of the year here’s our favourite trips of 2019.

1. Berlin

Berlin - museum square

Our final trip abroad was also one of my favourite trips of 2019. We loved the Hotel Zoo Berlin which was definitely one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed in. Berlin is full of history and we packed our days full of things to see and do. Sunset at the top of the Fernsehturm though was a particular highlight and fully deserves its spot on our list of the top 5 things to do in Berlin.

2. Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic - beach front

Package holidays are not everyone’s cup of tea but sometimes we really think they are worth it. We treated ourselves to a week in the Caribbean this summer for Vicky’s birthday and also to celebrate my qualifying as a lawyer. We had a fantastic time at the TUI Sensatori Punta Cana soaking up the sun and enjoying the perks of the gourmet all-inclusive offer at the resort.

3. Prague

Prauge - City scape

Prague was a magical trip and we loved exploring this beautiful city. There was so much to see and do that we struggled to fit it all in to our top 5 things to do. One of our highlights of this trip though was our stay at the ICON Hotel & Lounge. This hotel really was a home away from home and we will be going back in the future. We loved curling up after a long day exploring in front of our Netflix on the hotel’s smart television.

4. Cornwall

Cornwall - beach

One of the stops on our tour of the British seaside was to visit Vicky’s grandparents in Cornwall. We actually ended up staying in a caravan and had a wonderful time exploring the coast down in Perranporth. Sometimes the best trips can also be the simplest. Sitting on the beach with some chips watching the dogs chase each other was perfect and proves that you don’t always need to go abroad.

5. Paris

Paris - Notre dam

Paris was such a memorable trip. We decided to visit Paris instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day or our anniversary this year and you can find out why in our post Clock Out From…Valentine’s Day. We had such high expectations for Paris and while it wasn’t our favourite trip of the year our morning making croissants at La Cuisine Paris is one of our favourite activities of 2019. You should really check it out.
