We are planning our trips for 2020 and we are so excited for the year ahead. We have so many things to look forward to and we find that January is a geat time to reflect on why we love travelling and what we want to get out of our holidays in the coming year. With that in mind, here’s what we find rewarding about travel.

1. Exploring new cultures

Exploring a new culture is one of our favourite reasons to travel. Soaking up new experiences, exciting cuisines and different traditions enriches our understanding of the world and gives us a new perspective when we return home. I really learned to appreciate culture when living abroad in Germany. It took me a year to absorb the subtle differences and customs. Whenever we go somewhere new we only really scratch the surface of a new culture and that keeps me wanting to go back for more.

2. Spending some quality time together

We have become a bit of a cliche. We live together but we will often say that we barely see each other. Work, life and friends can be so busy that you rarely get time to stop and talk properly to the person you are living with. One of the reasons we find travel rewarding is that we can spend some quality time together without the distraction of every day life.

3. Trying new food

Everybody loves food, right? Whether it’s aromatic street food in Thailand or haute cuisine in Paris, we have all had that rewarding feeling that follows an outstanding meal. We are massive foodies and trying new food is one of the main reasons we travel and a key part of all of our holidays. This applies to all kinds of holiday even the all-inclusive hotels – find out what we thought about our gourmet all-inclusive experiences.

4. Break from work

We all need a break from work sometimes – even if we love what we do. Work can be incredibly stressful and one of the most rewarding things about travel is that you have the opportunity to switch off completely from work and soak up the atmosphere of your chosen destination. So put that out of office on and get ready for your next adventure.

5. Helping others make the most of their time off

This is a personal one for us. We have loved the feedback we have received from people who have read our blog and gone on to use some of our recommendations. Two of our close friends visited a new destination on our recommendation last year to celebrate a milestone birthday. They had a wonderful time. It is really nice that our experiences can help others make the most of their time off. We make the mistakes so you don’t have to!
