There are so many ways that you can go about booking your next trip. Where do you start? At the travel agent? On Google? On one of our top 5 travel websites? You’ve chosen the destination and maybe you’ve found some killer flights. But now you come to the important question – where are you going to stay? There are loads of different places both online and offline where you can find accommodation. Personally though we love Booking.com and here’s why.

*This is not a paid post – we just genuinely like Booking.com

1. Booking.com is cheap (and you can get cashback)

Cost is almost always top of everyones list of priorities when booking accommodation. If you can get a cheap deal, why wouldn’t you take it? We’ve booked a lot of holidays recently and on almost every occasion Booking.com has worked out cheaper than other comparable sites like Hotels.com and booking with the hotel directly. It’s always worth shopping around but Booking.com is usually very reasonable. Plus if you use TopCashback you can usually get up to 2% cash back on all bookings!

2. Reserve now and pay on arrival

Booking.com offers this option on most hotels and it’s so helpful. If you are feeling the pinch this month but want to book a hotel before all the rooms have gone, this is the option for you. A quick word of warning though – sometimes we have been charged twice for the room with the hotel charging a holding deposit. Taking a holding deposit is difficult on a debit card as it stops you from spending that money. We found that out the hard way! Getting the money back on a debit card takes time as well so it’s best to do this on a credit card if you have one.

3. Cancellation up to the day before

You can also book a room with the option of cancelling for free up to 24 hours before you arrive. Ths can be really helpful if you are waiting for flights to become cheaper. A good cancellation policy is also really helpful when you are planning something in advance and don’t want to lose a great deal while you wait for friends to confirm they are keen or for your work to sign off on your time off.

4. Lots of room only options

Found a beautiful hotel but can’t afford to stay there? Sometimes booking a room only deal can be the best option. Let’s face it, breakfast at some nice hotels is so expensive and usually not that great. A great example was our hotel in Berlin. They charge almost €30 a night each for breakfast and there were so many more reasonable options just round the corner. With Booking.com most of the options are room only so you are not tied into an expensive breakfast.

5. Easy to use

Booking.com is really easy to use. You can sign up in no time at all and once you are registered its has all of your details for your next booking. Plus the more you use Booking.com you will also get access to special rates at certain hotels. It’s not just about hotel rooms either, when we went to Prague we even arranged a really cheap private transfer from the airport with them too.

We’re all aboard the Booking.com train. What do you think? Have you used it before? Let us know in the comments below.
